Metazooa Solver

This site demonstrates the optimal solving strategy for the games Metazooa and Metaflora, which it is unofficial and unaffiliated with. The goal of those games is finding a mystery animal or plant by making guesses and learning the last common ancestor between each guess and the mystery species.

The best possible guess is always shown in gold. Click on a species to enter a guess, after which you'll be asked to select the last common ancestor that the game reported. The tree updates automatically, narrowing down the remaining candidates.

The non-species clades are shown as internal unlabeled nodes in the tree. Hover over them to see their scientific name, statistics, and the species they contain. To help explore the tree, you can click on an inner node to restrict the solver to that subtree. Click it again to clear the restriction.

Use the Min avg strategy to minimize the average number of guesses, or Minimax to minimize the worst case. Hover the guess chips to see their paths highlighted on the tree.
